We just came out of “Minimized” a few hours ago.  LCpl Emul from Lima Company was killed in the IED blast that I wrote about.  I don’t have much information about it.  It didn’t happen in our area.  They have been attached to a Battalion to our East since December.

My Marines are writing Valentine Cards to all the kids in Linda’s class.  I’m going to try and put them in the mail tomorrow.  Hopefully they will get there by Valentines Day.

We had some problems with are crypto rollover today.  We still have a site that’s down.  We still have radio and regular network connectivity with them but the secret network is down.  We use the SIPR (secret network) to send operational things so it’s important to get it up.  We downloaded a 700 page Technical Manual to help us out.  SSgt Schneider is doing a lot of reading right now.  The piece of gear we are working on uses radio waves to transmit the data to a battle position.  We sent another Marine out to the battle position to troubleshoot it from that end.  Captain Bair is going to COP North tomorrow on a convoy to get accountability for some gear out there.  I got to get off of this camp and find some work.  There’s been talk of a new battle position being made.  I want to go out and help establish all the communications gear for it.  I don’t know if it’ll be ready before we leave though.  I’m going to try to get on with the jump platoon in the next few days if everything here is slow.

Well, what do you know?  As I was sitting here getting ready to send this, the other battle position came on line.  SSgt Schneider must found what he was looking for in that manual.  Either that or maybe they just decided to plug it in.  hahahaha.

Our cards are now done too. Jose C even came back after school to finish his and add more writing to them. The funny thing is how many of the boys wrote how much they love your Marines. Instead of a traditional valentine poem, they wrote little messages. I'll get them in the mail today too.
Your communication systems sound complex and it's a good thing (as Martha Stewart would say) that you all understand them and can keep them working. The guys out in the battleposts will feel a lot better knowing they can communicate with you without the enemy intercepting the messages.
Candles are lit for LCpl Adam Emul who now joins the Angels guarding heaven's gates. God bless him, his family and all the Brave Marines throughout this world.
