Merry Christmas

The chow hall was completely decked out for Christmas.  They had some singing Santa clauses that danced, and they had some Indian guys dressed up in blow up Santa suits.  They kind of looked like the sumo wrestling blow up suits that I’ve seen.  There was a huge cake and all kinds of decorations.  All the workers were wearing white button up shirts with red ties and Christmas hats.  It was really nice.

The camp seems deserted because most of the Marines are out doing missions.  The war goes on even during Christmas.  The Marines are doing such a great job.  Everybody is in high spirits even though they are away from home.  These guys are so awesome.  It makes me so proud to be a part of such a great unit.  I still have yet to hear any of my Marines complain about anything.  We know we have a lot of support from family and friends and I think it makes a lot of difference to know that, no matter what your point of view is on the war, we are still supported.

  Merry Christmas everyone.

High moral during Christmas – that says everything about your Marines Mike – and especially the leaders. Certainly it would have been easy to have the mulley-grubs. I am not surprised because Marines are made of totally different stuff! From the pictures, I could tell some people made great effort for you all for Christmas. YOU LOOK GREAT! Once again, I say thank you brave Marines for who you are and what you are doing. Proud is not an adequate word any more.
One big step closer home now.

Mike, here's a picture for you, Santa on a surfboard. Sent the newspaper clipping to you. The guys will get a laugh out of that. We tracked him on the internet using NORAD as our guide for the little nieces. He must have splashed down and finished his rounds in the Pacific. Hope he stopped to visit the Bravest guys in the world, our American troops. You are all amazing in your commitment, courage and tenacity to defeat the enemy. OOH-RAH brave warriors!
Your positive attitude and that of your Brave warriors is inspiring.
Loved the pictures of the guys wearing their holiday outfits to serve dinner. Bet they enjoyed it too.
Happy Holidays to All.
